North East Marvels

The former capital of composite Assam, until 1972, Shillong is now the capital of scenic Meghalaya, in northeast India. Shillong is aptly known as ‘Scotland of the East’ as the rolling hills, and lush landscapes reminded European settlers of Scotland. The city still retains the colonial-era charm in certain areas, although it exudes modernity in every sphere.
